Our Story
Hungry Hill Meadow is part of a family farm that has been managed for generations
Today, it is cared for by Jerry, our founder and a third-generation farmer, whose family connection to this land is at the heart of what makes our little corner of Norfolk so special.
In the 1990s, the meadow became a plant nursery with extensive glass houses and a thriving local trade. When the nursery eventually closed, Jerry and his mum, Ann, began thinking about what the meadow could become next. Their idea was to bring Shepherd’s Huts and Pods to the land to complement their existing camping and bed and breakfast businesses, and to create a simple and peaceful place for people to stay and enjoy the countryside. Before long, our first guests arrived. Those original Shepherd’s Huts and Pods are still part of Hungry Hill Meadow today, a lovely reminder of how our journey began.
A New Chapter
In 2023, Jerry and Sue began working together, and Soulcraft was born. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for the meadow, bringing events and gatherings, including women’s camps, workshops, sound baths, talks and wellbeing sessions.
The meadow’s newest addition, the Stargazer Belle Tent, became a beautiful space for these experiences, bringing people together to slow down, reconnect and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The Stargazer also became available to book as a special place to stay and to experience evenings under our unpolluted dark skies.
In 2026, Hungry Hill Meadow became the name and identity for our tranquil meadow by the sea in Northrepps. Today, we welcome solo travellers, couples, friends and families, as well as well-behaved pups in selected accommodation.
Our Norfolk Horns
We share our meadow with some permanent residents, our friendly Norfolk Horn sheep, who are always rather pleased to see our guests and love nothing more than coming over to say hello.
Jerry can often be found tending to our Norfolk Horn girls in the meadow, as well as being around to welcome guests and look after the surrounding fields with annual sowing and harvesting of arable crops. Norfolk Horns are one of Britain’s oldest sheep breeds, dating back at least 500 years and as they are classed as an At Risk rare breed, our girls are an important part of Norfolk’s farming heritage.
A Small Part of Our Story
Today, Hungry Hill Meadow is a peaceful place to stay, unwind and enjoy the big Norfolk skies, but it remains part of something much older. It’s a glimpse into our family farm, the land we care for and the farming heritage that has shaped this special corner of Norfolk that we love to share with you.
